The Chicago medical community and the residents of Tinley Park are mourning the loss of Dr. Paul Rocco Signorino, who passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026. A highly respected general surgeon with over two decades of experience, Dr. Signorino was known not only for his “magical hands” in the operating room but for the profound kindness and hope he offered his patients.

A Career Defined by Excellence

Dr. Signorino earned his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in 2000, followed by a rigorous residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Throughout his 25-year career, he became a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and served as a Clinical Associate at the University of Chicago.

He was a vital part of several prominent institutions, including the University of Chicago Medical Center, Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital (where he served as Chair of the Department of Surgery), and the Ingalls Same Day Surgery Center. His expertise in complex procedures—ranging from robotic surgery and abdominal wall hernias to life-saving colorectal and breast cancer surgeries—earned him seven patient-choice awards and the deep gratitude of thousands.

Patients frequently described Dr. Signorino as a physician who truly listened. Whether treating a routine condition or a scary diagnosis, he ensured his patients left his office feeling confident and cared for.
